For those who haven't been following the seasonal events at The StuDome, a few weeks ago we went through all our Christmas decorations and found sacks of unwanted yule crap. We set up 2 heeping tables out front to give it all away and at the end of the day only 5 items were left. One of them was Gilbert the Christmas Disco Weasel. There he was, all bright and rhinestone studded, ready to spread joy and no one cared. Gilbert broke hearts all over social media and one of those hearts belonged to Dave McEathron, ex-of StuDome faves, The Warped 45s. Dave graciously gifted us an exclusive track that receives it's Intergalactic Broadcast Premiere tonight during Week 1 of the TwangTrust Christmas Juggernaut. And Gilbert is now happy, back where he belongs, in his eternal annual spot atop The StuDome Christmas tree. Details on how you can get a free copy of the 2023 Reid Family Christmas Spectacular are coming soon.

Top of my RSD list to find on Friday was the Waterboys 10" that features an alt. version of "This Is The Sea" featuring Tom Verlaine. How orgasmic might that be??? I thought. Well, you can hear exactly how orgasmic it is when I play it on the TwangTrust tonight. I just realized I've owned it on CD for the last 29 years. Also, Boy Golden at the Jim Kale Theatre on Friday, Black Friday savings on the coolest calendar of all time (!!) and we blow out some candles. Bring your own cake.

If the TwangTrust was a sitcom, this would be our "very special episode". It was 61 years ago this week that both Jonathan Richman and Joey Ramone graced the world with their presence, and there's two big reasons to celebrate right there. Plus, tonight marks the debut of something we hope to make a semi-regular event: THE STUDOME SESSIONS. Volume One features none other than our current infatuation, Lindi Ortega, recorded live in performance and conversation.

We had to take a week off to recuperate after the Lindi Ortega show at the StuDome last week. Easing us back into programming a radio show is... Lindi herself! Yes, those little red boots were made for putting together a set of old school country 'n' blues tonight. Plus, we even hear a brand new song from Lindi recorded on that dynamic night! Also: Record Store Day cover tunes and Girl Group Power!

We're the last place in town with tickets to the sold out show by Winnipeg's own Rolling Stones cover band, 'Peggers Banquet! So we celebrate in appropriate fashion. Plus we're in phase one of our Kathleen Edwards ticket giveaway too. And we just can't get enough of holidays - April Fool's Day, St.Patrick's Day and Easter are all given their due in TwangTrust style.

The human voice can do wonderous things, but it's nothing compared to what two can do when they're in complete harmony. That's what we engross ourselves with tonight with the assistance of The Reivers, Wussy, Sit Down Tracy and a historic cast of characters. And sadly, we bid farewell to the best band ever out of Edmonton - The Wheat Pool.

Sometimes it can be a wearying thing to do musical tributes to those that mean so much to us, but sometimes it's all you can do. One of the brightest lights at the end of any tunnel, Slim Dunlap, recently suffered a stroke. We're sending a boatload of good vibes to him tonight with a bonus boatload for the cancer-stricken heart of Scruffy The Cat, Charlie Chesterman. And stuff.

It's the official TwangTrust Roots Rockin' FunDrive Spectacular! And spectacular it was! We attained our goal of Spiritual Enlightenment and were treated to a historical covergence of cool-rockin' talent featuring Del Barber, Ridley Bent & Chris Dunn and J-Rod, all backed up by the guys in Hatcher-Briggs who kicked off the show in fine form.

Too much bad news today. Don Cornelius kicked off Black History Month with a real bang. The best band ever out of Edmonton, The Wheat Pool, has announced they're packing it in before they ever began to get their due. The world's a crappy place sometimes. But we can always spend a couple of hours playing some great music. It makes things better. Trust me.

Tonight we marvel at how original Bruce Springsteen is with his album titles... We have dueling solo albums with Craig Finn and John K. Samson... And we cover Bob Dylan both heavily and not so heavily. Plus, it's once again time to get right with the Lord!

It's true, we rock. On a regular basis. But we can be sensitive too, and tonight we prove it. For a little while, anyway. Then we discover Lindi Ortega, who's opening up for Social Distortion in the spring. Plus, the TwangTrust debut of the new Bruce Springsteen single. We so rock.

The TwangTrust staff went out to the movies the other night and was so impressed with The Runaways that we had to finally right the wrong of never having played them on the show before. To help us, we call up the world's leading authority on The Runaways, former Winnipegger and creator of Jett Set, the definitive 'Peg punk/new wave scene chronicle - Gordie Agar. Gordie chats with us all the way from London, England about all things Runaways. Plus, we venture into the TwangTrust wayback machine to a 1988 Spectrum gig by The Pursuit of Happiness.

You want history? We got history. Tonight on the TwangTrust, two pivotal figures from the golden age of Winnipeg Campus/Community radio, as well as Winnipeg alt.culture in general: Reid Dickie and Roman Panchyshyn! It's been 28 years since they killed the original CJUM - FM101 - tonight we go down memory lane with two of it's most important voices. Take notes, kids. There's much to be learned here.

It's hard to think of too many musicians out there today who had the phenomonal presence of Billy Cowsill. When I first heard that the guy who sang "Hair" was in a band with our beloved local hero, Jeffrey Hatcher, this aging punk-rocker couldn't help but laugh. It took a mere moment to stop laughing and start cheering when I first saw Billy fronting the Blue Shadows along with Jeff. That cool, piercing stare, the exquisite attention to musical detail and that voice! The two albums that the Blue Shadows recorded are forever positioned in my Coolest Albums Ever short list and the handful of times I saw them live are each among my fondest live music memories. Billy left us last week and tonight the TwangTrust celebrates the life and music of Billy Cowsill.
